Rationalizing the Denominator Practice Activity
I already posted nearly our recent Algebra 1 unit of measurement on radicals. But, I only realized I forgot to part the query stack I created to assist my students exercise rationalizing the denominator.
Question stacks are ane of my favorite exercise structures. Students are given a double-sided deck of x cards. One side of the menu features a question. The other side features the reply to a DIFFERENT question.
Students start out the activity past times turning over all of the cards to discover ALL of the answers. I say my students this is their reply bank.
Then, students flip over ane menu of their choosing. This volition move their starting fourth dimension employment to solve. When students detect the solution, it should move inwards the reply banking concern if they convey done everything correctly. They alternative upwards the solution menu as well as flip it over to discover the side past times side question.
I dear query stacks because they are self-checking. This agency I tin sack focus my assist on the groups struggling the most. The reply banking concern gets smaller as well as smaller amongst each query which helps orbit pupil confidence.
Here are the questions. I pose boxes unopen to the questions to brand them easier to spot.
And, here's the reply bank.
Here are some pictures of my students inwards action:
